Frequently asked questions

Everything you need
to know before you come in.

General

Dex or Morgwn will greet you and take you through a short intake. We'll go over a few questions about your health and what you're hoping to get out of the session, explain what to expect, and make sure you're comfortable before we start. First visits run a little longer than later ones while we get to know you. Everything is private and unhurried.

Yes. Every session is private and by appointment, so we don't take walk-ins. Book online at book.mindovermatterpractice.com.au or call us on (08) 7516 3625. We'd suggest booking ahead for busier times, since each session has the space to yourself.

Absolutely, and we'd encourage it. A lot of our modalities work beautifully together, which is exactly what our protocols are built from: Forge pairs sauna and a cold plunge, and the Reset Journey runs a full contrast cycle into a float. A float before a NeurOptimal session is another lovely combination. When you book, tell us if you're planning to stack a few things and we'll set aside the time.

Please check with your doctor first. Some of our services, like contrast, the ice plunge and the sauna, place real demands on the body, and they aren't suitable for everyone. If you have a cardiovascular condition, are pregnant, have a history of seizures, or take medication that affects your blood pressure or heart rate, talk to your GP about whether these are right for you before you book, and let us know when you do. We're a recovery and wellness studio, not a medical clinic, so the call on what's safe for your situation rests with you and your doctor.

It depends on your goal and the modality, but as a general guide, once or twice a week is a solid rhythm for most people. Consistency tends to matter more than intensity, so a regular weekly habit over a couple of months usually does more than occasional big sessions. NeurOptimal in particular works best as a regular series rather than a one-off. When you come in, we're happy to talk through what a sensible rhythm looks like for what you're after.

Some services are, with a parent present, and some aren't. NeurOptimal is suitable for all ages and is used widely with children. Floating is fine for children with a parent there. Cold plunges and high-heat sauna aren't recommended for young children, and hyperbaric has specific age and weight considerations. If you're enquiring for a child, give us a call and we'll talk through what's appropriate and what supervision is needed.

Because we hold the space just for you, we ask for 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule so we can offer the spot to someone else. Cancellations inside 24 hours are charged the full session fee. To change a booking, call (08) 7516 3625 or email jasovic@mindovermatterpractice.com.au.

Full pricing is on our pricing page. We accept EFTPOS, credit card and cash. Biological Age Testing is by enquiry and requires a deposit to book.

Yes. VR is available as an optional add-on to the ice plunge, sauna and hyperbaric sessions. Some people find it helps with the mental side of cold or heat, especially early on. Just let us know when you book if you'd like it.

Float REST

Most people float without clothing, since skin contact with the water makes for the cleanest experience with nothing to distract you. Swimwear is completely fine if you'd rather. We provide a towel and robe, and there's hot tea waiting for you afterwards.

Plenty of people who worry about this float happily. Our cabin is king-size, far roomier than a standard pod, and you're in control the whole time. You can leave the door open and the light on if you like. Most people find it's nothing like what they pictured once they're in. If you've got real concerns, call us before you book and we'll walk you through the space and how to ease into your first float.

A lot of pregnant women find floating wonderfully comfortable, since it takes the load off. We'd ask you to get the okay from your obstetrician or midwife before your first float, particularly in the first trimester.

A towel, robe and hot tea afterwards, with earplugs on request. There are shower facilities for before and after your float.

Contrast Therapy

Swimwear or undergarments. We provide a towel and robe, and hot tea afterwards. Swimwear is available to buy if you've forgotten yours.

Forge is a single contrast cycle: sauna into the cold plunge, once. Deep Forge runs the cycle twice (sauna, cold, sauna, cold) for a stronger, more sustained effect. We'd suggest starting with Forge if you're new to contrast and moving up to Deep Forge as your tolerance builds. Both are guided start to finish.

Contrast puts a real demand on the cardiovascular system and isn't suitable for all heart conditions. If you have a diagnosed heart condition, please get clearance from your doctor before booking, and let us know when you enquire. The call on whether it's safe for you sits with you and your GP, not with us.

Hyperbaric Oxygen

Comfortable, loose clothing, and remove any external metal including underwire before you go in. We provide attire, a towel, gloves, rubber shoes, a mask and a robe. VR is available as an optional add-on, and there's hot tea afterwards. Attire is available to buy if you need it.

As the chamber pressurises you'll feel a bit of pressure in your ears, much like coming in to land on a plane. It's normal and clears quickly with a swallow, a yawn, or gently pinching your nose and exhaling. Once you're at pressure it's comfortable, and most people read, use VR or just rest. Coming back down at the end is gradual and easy.

Never stop or change a prescribed medication for a session. If you take anything regularly, especially anything affecting blood pressure or oxygen, have a quick word with your prescribing doctor about whether hyperbaric is suitable for you, and let us know your situation when you book. Decisions about your medication are between you and your doctor.

Ice Plunge

Swimwear or undergarments. We provide a towel and robe, and hot tea afterwards. VR is available as an optional add-on, and swimwear is available to buy if you need it.

Our Odin plunge can go right down to 0°C, with full filtration, sanitation and temperature control. We set the temperature individually based on your tolerance, experience and what you're after. Give us a call before your first session so we can have it set to the right level before you arrive.

The first few seconds are the hardest. Your body throws a cold shock response at you, a sharp gasp and a strong urge to get out, and it passes quickly. Dex or Morgwn coaches your breathing before and during the plunge to help you ride it out, and we start at a temperature that suits your level. Most first-timers are genuinely surprised how manageable it is with the right breathing and a bit of guidance.

Sauna

Swimwear is best. Take off makeup, moisturiser, deodorant and perfume beforehand, don't eat a big meal in the hour before, and come well hydrated with water to hand. We provide a towel, bottle cooler and robe, with hot tea afterwards. Swimwear, alkaline water and electrolyte sachets are available to buy.

Our infrared sauna runs around 60°C and heats a few centimetres into the tissue, so you get a deep effect at a more comfortable air temperature. People often pick it for recovery and easing tension, or if they find high heat hard going. The steam sauna runs around 80°C and gives a stronger cardiovascular response, and it's the traditional style most of the long-term Finnish longevity research is based on. Both are genuinely good. It comes down to what you want from the session.

Yes, please don't drink in the hours before a sauna. Alcohol throws off how your body handles heat and meaningfully raises the risk of dehydration and cardiovascular strain. If you've had a drink, please rebook for another time.

NeurOptimal Neurofeedback

No. NeurOptimal is a general wellness system, not a medical treatment, so there's no diagnosis, referral or clinical assessment needed. It suits anyone who wants to support the brain's own ability to settle and self-regulate, whether that's everyday stress, sleep, focus, or just wanting to feel sharper and calmer.

Most people notice something within the first handful of sessions, often better sleep, less reactivity and a clearer head. For everyday wellbeing and stress, a series of 10 to 20 tends to settle things into a new baseline. People with longer-standing patterns often keep going beyond that, and the gains keep building. Once you've done a series, the odd booster session is a nice way to maintain it.

Nothing at all. You recline on the Balinese daybed, put the headphones on, and listen to music. Nothing to concentrate on, no tasks, nothing to achieve. Rest, doze, let your mind wander. The system does the work, and the feedback keeps going even if you nod off.

Biological Age Testing

Dex collects it in clinic using TruDiagnostic's finger-prick method: a small lancet, a few drops of blood onto a collection card. It takes a few minutes and is essentially painless. We prepare and post your sample to TruDiagnostic's certified laboratory for analysis.

Results come back several weeks after the lab receives your sample, delivered straight to you in TruDiagnostic's online dashboard along with their own reports and recommendations.

You can, and the test is the same. What you get through us is the convenience and the certainty: no ordering from overseas or waiting on customs, and Dex takes your sample properly in clinic so you're not risking a failed home collection and another several-week wait on a re-test. Same kit, same reports, handled locally and done right the first time.

Biological Age Testing is by enquiry. Email jasovic@mindovermatterpractice.com.au to discuss availability and arrange your deposit, which secures your booking.
